I am an occupational therapist with experience in numerous areas of practice, but have specialized in hand and upper extremity dysfunction, becoming a certified hand therapist (CHT) in 1991. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health from Texas A & M University (1978), a Master?s degree in Occupational Therapy from Texas Woman?s University (1980), and a post professional doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of St. Augustine (2013). I teach courses primarily related to delivery of services to adults, as well as applied biomehanics. My special areas of interest include splinting, assessments, and education issues such as critical thinking skills. I participate in the faculty practice of the School of Health Professions, providing services primarily in orthopedic out-patient settings. I was honored with a Presidential Excellence in Teaching award in 2001 by the University of Texas Health Science Center. In 2008, I was inducted into the UTHSCSA Academy of Master Teachers, and in 2010, named as a Distinguished Teaching Professor by the UT System. In 2017, she was awarded the Presidential Distinguished Service to the Institution award.
