Martin Javors, PhD, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1967 with a B.S. degree in Pharmacy. He was a Chief Pharmacy Officer in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1970, then practiced community pharmacy in Boulder, Colorado, until 1974. He graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in June of 1979 with a Ph.D. in Pharmacy (Pharmacology). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Texas HSC in San Antonio during 1979 to 1982. Since that time, he has served on the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry. He currently serves as Director of the Biological Psychiatry Analytical Labs. His principal research interest is biomarkers for alcohol consumption. He also collaborates on many research projects related to drug abuse and addiction, aging, and other areas of research by performing analytical biochemical measurements.
