John D. Roache, Ph.D. is Deputy Chair for Research and Chief of the Division of Alcohol and Drug Addiction in the Department of Psychiatry. He also serves as the Director of the FIRST Program which is the clinical research arm of the Institute on the Integration of Medicine & Science (IIMS). His research expertise is in understanding the behavioral biology of addiction and in designing and conducting clinical trials to develop new treatments for addiction. |

Basic BioBehavioral Vulnerability- Dr. Roaches research in Human Behavioral Pharmacology has helped to advance experimental methods and our understanding of the biobehavioral vulnerability to drug addiction and its treatment. |
Medications Development for Addictions Treatment- Dr. Roache has employed basic experimental psychopharmacological laboratory methods to develop novel approaches to Phase I, II and III Clinical Trials in the treatment of drug addiction. |
Research Administration- Dr. Roache serves as Deputy Chair for Research in the Dept. Psychiatry and has organized and directed research operations of the University Clinical Psychopharmacology Laboratory and also the Behavioral Wellness Center for Clinical Trials as part of the Dept. Psychiatry. He also serves as Director of the FIRST Program which is the clinical research support core of the institutional CTSA grant supporting the Institute on the Integration of Medicine & Science (IIMS). |
