Proposal to study the Mycoplasma pneumoniae toxin and its impact on acute and chronic airway diseases and extrapulmonary pathologies in South Texas and beyond. The Community Acquired Respiratory Distress Syndrome Toxin (CARDS TX) is a most unique protein, and we are continually uncovering new and unexpected biological and chemical properties about the CARDS TX that distinguish it from all other known bacterial toxins. Although the CARDS TX bears some similarity to pertussis, diphtheria and helicobacter toxins, it is actually so unusual that it truly needs to be categorized separately. |
