Bone and Soft Tissue Pathologist- Through my special interest in bone and soft tissue pathology and close collaboration with Orthopedic Oncology, I have become the institutional expert for Musculoskeletal Pathology. I have reviewed the majority of bone and soft tissue tumors seen at University Hospital over the past 16 years through weekly interdisciplinary orthopedic tumor pathology conference. Given this experience, I have developed a consultation service used by pathologists at other institutions and laboratories in town, mainly Methodist Hospital, Baptist Hospital, Christus Santa Rosa, South Texas Dermatopathology Associates CTRC (pathology material from outside institutions requested to be reviewed by CTRC medical oncologists). |
Pediatric Pathologist (Board certified)- As the only Board Certified Pediatric Pathologist at this institution, I am responsible for all pediatric tumor specimens, pediatric liver specimens including post-transplant liver biopsies, gastrointestinal biopsies (i.e. for Hirschsprung disease) and all other difficult pediatric cases. |
Perinatal Pathologist- In the role of pediatric pathologist, I staff most pediatric/perinatal and fetal autopsies Placental pathology: I am also consulted by perinatal medicine clinicians (fetal-maternal and neonatal) on difficult placental pathology cases. I have established my professional relationship with perinatal medicine through my role on the perinatal mortality committee. |
