Adult Cardiac Surgery- Provide patient care and resident education for a full array of adult cardiac surgery with particular expertise in management of the aortic root with a large series of aortic root replacements for aneurysmal disease and dissection. Currently directing a mid-term review (6 - 12 years) of bioprosthetic aortic root replacement as a means to return military members with aortic valve and root disease to active duty. |
General Thoracic Surgery- Very active with clinical evaluation and operative therapy for lung cancer, teaching thoracic and general surgery residents preoperative evaluation, operative technique and postoperative management. |
Lung and Heart Transplantation- UNOS certified surgeon actively involved in the lung and heart transplant programs. From 2002 until 2007, the primary surgeon to provide preoperative evaluation of lung tansplant candidates including review of history and all studies, examination and extensive preoperative counselling. Committed to the success of the lung transplant program as an operating surgeon while evolving greater expertise in heart failure management working to promote the growth of the heart transplant program. |

| I coordinate biweekly teaching rounds with faculty and students rotating on CT surgery. This comprises a series of organized lectures on fundamental thoracic surgical topics as well as bedside rounds to discuss diagnosis and treatment of current inpatients. I personally meet with the students for these rounds an coordinate the schedule for all faculty in the Division of Thoracic Surgery. | |||
