Merritt G. Davis, Jr., D.O., MPH-TM, FACOOG, FACPM, Director of the Hyperbaric Clinic at University Hospital, San Antonio, TX, is an Assistant Professor of The University of Texas Health Science Center. Dr. Davis is Board Certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine/Aerospace Medicine and the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He held various positions during his 20-year service in the U.S. Air Force, including Director/Deputy Command Surgeon of HQ AF Logistics Command, Office of the Surgeon at Wright-Patterson AF Base. Dr. Davis earned his D.O. degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed post-graduate studies at the School of Aerospace Medicine, Brooks AF Base; and the Tulane U School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He has published several journal articles and has been awarded the AF National Defense Service Medal; the AF Meritorious Service Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters; the Legion of Merit; AF Outstanding Unit Award with One Oak
Cluster and several other AF awards; in addition to a Commendation from the Maine State Police for teaching Emergency Obstetrics at their Academy. He has served as Chair of the Dept of Defense Advisory Committee of the Clinical Hyperbaric Medicine Division, USAF; and maintains memberships in the American Osteopathic Assn, Aerospace Medical Assn, American College of Osteopathic Obstetrics and Gynecologists, and is a Charter Member of the AF Institute of Technology Assn of Graduates.
