Dr. Dumitru currently serves as Professor with Tenure in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He has held numerous administrative positions as Medical Director in San Antonio and Norfolk, Virginia. Dr. Dumitru continues to be active in many professional organizations including the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM), of which he was President, Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP) and American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) of which he was President as well. He served as a member of the Editorial Board of Muscle and Nerve and on the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has received the AANEMs Distinguished Researcher Award, the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Presidents Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the AAPs
Distinguished Academician Award. His major focus for research is clinical neurophysiology with an emphasis in volume conductor theory. He has numerous publications in textbooks and significant peer review journals as well as his comprehensive textbook Electrodiagnostic Medicine, 1st and 2nd Editions.
