Dr. Thompsons primary research interest is in the early detection and prevention of cancers of the genitourinary tact. He is Vice Chair of the Early Detection Research Network of the National Cancer Institute. He is principal Investigator of SABOR, San Antonio Centers for Biomarkers of Risk of Prostate Cancer. This study is sponsored by NCI and follows a 4,500 subject cohort for the discovery and validation of new biomarkers for Prostate Cancer.
