The overarching aim of my program of research is to promote mental health recovery and well-being among individuals living with serious mental illness (SMI) and/or substance use disorders. I am particularly interested in the overlap of serious mental illness, trauma, and homelessness among women living with SMI as related to mental health recovery. Underpinned by social justice principles and recognizing the value of the expertise and experiences of mental health consumers, I use a community engaged research approach to understand pathways to mental health recovery. Currently, I am a member of an interdisciplinary research team conducting funded research exploring opioid use among women of childbearing age.
