Ramin S. Poursani, MD, is a family physician and assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine where he serves as Director of the departments Inpatient Service. He cares for patients and teaches Family Medicine residents and medical students in the Family Health Center at the University Health Center-Downtown and at in the Family Medicine Inpatient Service at University Hospital.

Bone and Joint Clinic- I have been using my experience as an Orthopedic Surgeon to serve our patients for their non-surgical bone and joint care. Also with providing the educational/practical tools to our residents, in my Bone and Join Clinic, Ive been able to provide more competent providers for our community. |
Ilizarov orthopedic surgery- During my residency and in my private work as an orthopedic surgeon, in Turkey, with using the Ilizarov technique during my procedures, I developed my practical skill. |
Inpatient Care- With using the clinical policies and protocols to not only preventing unnecessary admissions but also with taking advantage of allied services and resources to decreasing the Length of Stay (LOS) and re-admission rate. |

| Sub-internship in Family Medicine in-patient Service, working with students to expose them to primary care. A sub-internship is a clinical rotation of a fourth-year medical student. Our sub-internship has an aim to prepare fourth-year students for the demanding experience of internship. In general the following responsibilities are given to a sub-I student: accept and give sign-out of all patients on the team, assess assigned patients before morning rounds, write problem oriented notes daily on all patients, admit patients on call days, act as information liaison between the medical team and hospital staff, communicating plan of care to patient. Duration of rotation is 4 weeks and we do accept 1 sub-intern at a time. | |||
