I serve in an unique position as a Clinical Faculty Nursing Instructor at South Texas Veterans Health Care System, Audie L. Murphy Veterans Administration Hospital in partnership with Department of Health Restoration & Care Systems Management, UTHSCSA School of Nursing. I serve our nations veteran population with my primary professional focus on teaching graduate and undergraduate nursing students. In the graduate program, I am the Track Coordinator for the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) Program. I teach in the four CNL courses: NURS 6230 Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) I: Role of the Advanced Generalist in Health Care Microsystems; NURS 6233 Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) I: Role of the Advanced Generalist in Health Care Microsystems: Clinical Application; NURS 6120 Clinical Nurse Leader Role II: Seminar; and NURS 6822 Clinical Nurse Leader Role (CNL) II: Clinical Application for the Advanced Nursing Generalist. I teach didactic content in both the Traditional and Accelerated Tracks. In the Traditional Track, I am the Lead Teacher for NURS 4319 Leadership and Management: Theoretical Foundations. I am a member of the teaching team for NURS 4315 Adult II: Theoretical Foundation. In the Accelerate Track, I am also a member of the teaching team for NURS4329 Leadership and Management: Theoretical Foundations. My second professional focus is to continue my scholarship to develop and disseminate my research in patient safety that encourages and empowers nurses to identify and report near-misses. My clinical specialty is post-anesthesia care nursing. My nursing experience and service as the President and Chair, Policy and Procedure Committee for the Texas Association of PeriAnesthesia Nurse, Hill Country and South Texas Region has equipped me with knowledge and experiences to share with nursing students.
