Brachytherapy & Ophthalmic Oncology- Treating intraocular tumors, such as melanoma, with Iodine 125 brachytherapy. Treating tumors of the orbit, eyelids and conjunctiva and cornea. |
Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery- From 1994 to present, Dr. Fry has been an invited, paid instructor at a national review course in ophthalmology, teaching residents and recent graduates the salient points on ophthalmic plastic surgery in preparation for examination by the American Board of Ophthalmology. As of February 2007, Dr. Fry has been named Course Director for the Section of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at this month long review course. |
Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery- This entails the treatment of complex orbital tumors and malignancies, reconstructive surgery after trauma as well as eyelid and lacrimal surgery. |
Resident Education- Dr. Fry serves as the program director at UTHSCSA and is knowledgeable about the ACGME requirements for residency training programs. |

| For 2 consecutive years, Dr. Fry has collaborated with colleagues at SAMMC (San Antonio Military Medicine Consortium - the combined residency programs of Wilford Hall and Brooke Army Medical Center) to organize the month long lecture series, set curriculum, give 25-30% of the lectures, write test questions and vet the entire test for accuracy. The test is given to residents of both programs to prepare them for the written board exam. | |||

| Dr. Fry as head of the post-doctoral education (i.e. the residency program) for the department of ophthalmology she directs and supervises the Mock Oral Board Examination in Ophthalmology for UTHSCSA. Since 2008, Dr. Fry has modified the faculty utilized based on student (resident) feedback, changed the format of the testing, provided group and individual instruction on how to better perform, given the faculty instruction on how to modify testing techniques to better simulate the actual Oral Examination of the American Board of Ophthalmology and brought in guest examiners to challenge the students. 8-12 residents are examined annually. | |||

| Ongoing 8 hours yearly. This is a bi-annual course given twice yearly to first year medical students in the skills transfer laboratory. The students are taught by demonstration and modeling how to perform the eight steps of the eye exam. Dr. Fry augments the set curriculum by including teaching of the recognition of true ophthalmic emergencies and urgencies by the physical examination of the eye. | Dr. Fry has been an instructor at this course continuously from 1994 through 2011 (18 years). Dr. Fry began giving a two hour lecture and then a three hour lecture. By 2007, this was increased to 8 hours of lecture over two days and became the Section head of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. This is one of three courses that are a month long given in the United States which serves to prepare practicing ophthalmologists, fellows and residents for taking the written qualifying exam of the American Board of Ophthalmology. The comprehensive nature of the review attracts both students from the United States and Canada as well as international students. The course attendance ranges from 45-80 participants per year. | |||
