I first joined the full time faculty in 1982 as an Associate Professor after serving on the School of Areospace Medicine/Wilford Hall staff for four years. In 1985 I entered private practice here in San Antonio.
During this time I continued to publish, teach courses at the annual American Academy of Ophthalmology meetings and serve on the editorial board of The Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology. In addition, I continued to serve on national committees, acted as a consultant at Brooke Army Medical Center and represented the Ophthalmology Department as a Visiting Professor at several teaching institutions. I did not, however, continue to maintain a CV because I had no intention of returning to academic medicine. The result of this action is that I do not have a record of most of my post 1990 activities.
