I am a Clinical Assistant Professor of baccalaureate nursing students. I love teaching. As a clinical assistant professor, I have my students present their patients as case scenarios to facilitate interaction among them and stimulate discussion of assessments and the nursing process.

My research interests are surgical informed consent and health literacy in older adults. I am also interested in cultural inclusion and increasing nursing workforce diversity to aid in reducing health disparities among the United States population.

I have been on Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) funded projects as a faculty advisor and academic program coordinator to assist baccalaureate nursing students from diverse backgrounds to be academically successful. I am currently on a HRSA grant, Adelante, to assist pre-nursing students from The University of Texas at San Antonio to transition to the UTHSCSA School of Nursing and baccalaureate nursing students to progress academically. I love teaching and am committed to helping students advance and achieve their goals and advance their education.
