Molecular genetics of type 2 diabetes -
My area of interest lies with the fundamental molecular biology of type 2 diabetes and, more specifically, how genetic variation impacts an individual's risk for the development and progression of the disease. My main goals are to 1) find new genes that are associated with diabetes and 2) characterise the functional role of these genes as it pertains to the development of the diabetes. To this end I employ numerous experimental approaches ranging from in vivo human to detailed in vitro cell culture studies. |
