Undergraduate clinical teaching is my primary teaching focus. I have been teaching since 2010, starting as a clinical instructor. I was promoted to clinical assistant professor in 2012. My teaching has been across the curriculum; Immersion, Leadership and Management, Adult II which primarily is acute care of the adult, Health Assessment and Foundations. My leadership was in coordinating Foundations both traditional and accelerated track, and Health Assessment. While primary focus is clinical, I have co-taught in Health Assessment didactic and was guest lecturer in Foundations.

I have chaired several committees, such as, Accelerated Track Workgroup, Clinical Evaluation Tool committee, Nominations committee, and am a member of the Committee on Faculty and Student Matters.

I have served as a delegate for TNA, going to Washington D.C. as a TNA delegate to ANA. I now hold the position of President of TNA district 8 which encompasses 28 counties.

I have held certifications in ACLS and CPR as instructor for many years.

To me this analogy fits nursing students:

I am the mama eagle. The students are eggs when they start, then peck out of the egg becoming hatchlings. As the hatchlings grow they become curious and sit on the side of the nest. They eventually try to fly. If they do not try, I push them. If they cannot fly I swoop in and save them, nurturing them until they are ready. By graduation, the eaglet becomes a soaring eagle.
