UTHSCSA Faculty Profiles v1.0

Nagi, Kundandeep S

School of Medicine

Director, Glaucoma Service. I am subspecialty-fellowship-trained in diagnosing and treating common and rare forms of glaucoma, a primary cause of visual impairment and blindness. I provide outpatient care at the glaucoma clinics at the Texas Diabetes Institute, University Eye Consultants and the Medical Arts and Research Center (MARC), and glaucoma surgical care at University Hospital and at the MARC, as well as nearby private hospitals. I am unique in providing not only adult glaucoma care, but pediatric glaucoma care as well. In addition to my devotion to providing the highest quality, state-of-the-art treatment for my glaucoma patients, I have a deep-seated desire to pass my knowledge and skills on to the clinicians who followed the path to ophthalmology and who trust me and my colleagues to be their residency mentors. I take great pride in the large number of our residents who have gone on to glaucoma fellowships and successful careers as glaucoma specialists. I also have more fascination than time for glaucoma research, but I take every opportunity I can to participate and encourage eye research within my department and around UTHSCSA and beyond.
