Robert Quinn MD is currently Professor and Chair, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. He is Director of the Orthopaedic Residency Program. His area of orthopaedic specialization is musculoskeletal oncology.

Dr. Quinn received his MD degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine. He completed an Orthopaedic Residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine followed by a fellowship in Orthopaedic Oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. He is a current fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Quinn is a member of several professional Societies including being elected President of the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society in October of 2016, American Orthopaedic Association, Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons, Connective Tissue Oncology Society, International Society of Limb Salvage.

He is a member of several multidisciplinary research groups including Children?s Oncology Group, Southwestern Oncology Group, Radiation Oncology Group, American College of Surgeon?s Oncology Group, and International Ewing?s Sarcoma Research Forum.

Dr. Quinn has numerous publications including peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters including both editions of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Orthopaedic Knowledge Update: Musculoskeletal Tumors. He is currently completing a new textbook on bone and soft tissue tumors as a co-editor.

Dr. Quinn has served on a number of National committees including Chair Fellowship Committee Musculoskeletal Tumor Society, member Education Committee Musculoskeletal Tumor Society, member AAOS Evidence Based Practice Committee, member of the AAOS Musculoskeletal Tumors and Diseases Evaluation Committee, member Board of Specialty Societies Fellowship Match Oversight Committee.

He is a consultant reviewer for Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research.

In addition to Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Quinn is actively involved in the specialty of Wilderness Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine, member Board of Directors of the Wilderness Medical Society, a Board Member of AdventureMed which offers the Advanced Wilderness Life Support course with the University of Utah, a member of the New Mexico DMAT team (Disaster Medical Assistance Team), and a consultant reviewer for Wilderness and Environmental Medicine.
