Mr. Deschaine was born in Catskill, NY but moved to San Antonio after joining the Air Force and considers himself a Texan ?by choice?. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Physician Assistant program and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor?s degree in 1991, followed by a Master?s in Physician Assistant Studies in 1997, through the University Of Nebraska College Of Medicine.

During his military career, Mr. Deschaine was the medical officer for several Basic Training Squadrons at Lackland AFB and was responsible for the care of 2500 military recruits as well as the training cadre. He earned an Air Force Meritorious Service Medal for his medical support providing medical care for over 10,000 Cuban and Haitian refugees during Operation Just Cause in 1995. Later that year he selected to complete an intensive orthopaedic residency for Physician Assistant?s at Wilford Hall Medical Center and after graduation was asked to join the staff where he remained until his retirement in 1998. After retirement, Marc joined a general orthopaedic practice in west Texas for 4 years then returned to San Antonio and joined an orthopaedic foot & ankle practice until he joined the orthopaedic faculty at UTHSCSA in 2012. He presently practices in the Medical Arts and Research center in support of our Orthopaedic Oncologist and Adult Reconstruction Service.
