Bolfing, Brandon Lee

School of Medicine
Family & Community Medicine

Dr. Brandon Bolfing is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He became Medical Director of the UT Medicine - Westover Hills Clinic in 2013. That clinic was multidisciplinary with general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, and psychology on site and provided a number of services and procedures such as biopsies, allergy testing, pulmonary function testing, and joint injections. He also taught medical students in the clinic multiple times a week. Since becoming medical director, Dr. Bolfing had been actively involved in the development of a Primary Care Center (PCC), including family medicine, internal medicine, and geriatrics, as well as the transformation both of the Westover Clinic and the PCC to a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) with a strong focus on population management. He has also been directly involved in the development of new protocols and metrics for the PCC in order to move away from a fee-for-service model of care towards value based care, including progress towards becoming an ACO (accountable care organization).

In 2018 he moved to a new clinic location in Shavano Park nearer to home to spend more time with his family. He continually focuses on improving both the patient experience and staff and provider engagement. Dr. Bolfing enjoys the challenges of providing truly comprehensive care that encompasses a very wide spectrum of patient problems.
