I attended Millsaps College and majored in Physics. I played four years of varsity soccer and tennis. After college I held a research position at the Unv of MS and was included on two papers. I then spent a year in China teaching English to Chinese college students. I attended Tulane Medical School and was awarded the McCool award for the top student in surgery. I did my surgical training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. I am board certified in General and Thoracic Surgery. Since coming to UTHSCSA, I have started the only lung volume reduction surgery and robotic thoracic surgery programs in San Antonio. I have interests in medical devices for which two patent applications have been filed. I am a Major in the US Air Force.
