Kristi E. Pruiksma, PhD., is an Assistant Professor and a Licensed Clinical Psychologist within the Division of Behavioral Medicine and the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She earned her doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Clinical Psychology at The University of Tulsa and completed her clinical psychology residency (internship) at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System in Tucson Arizona. She completed a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in trauma psychology at UT Health San Antonio after which she joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Pruiksma provides clinical services for the South Texas Research Organizational Network Guiding Studies on Trauma and Resilience (STRONG STAR) Research Consortium and the Consortium to Alleviate PTSD (CAP) which are housed within the Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Pruiksma works primarily at the site of the consortium located on the United States Army installation at Fort Hood in Killeen, TX. Her clinical and research interests are in the areas of behavioral sleep medicine and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She specializes in Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for insomnia, and in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for nightmares.
