She is directly responsible for training 10-12 psychology interns per year and overseeing 30+ faculty involved in training (including oversight of training, clinical caseloads, and training contracts amounting to over $300,000). Dr. McGeary is the Associate Postdoctoral Fellowship Director of the UT Health San Antonio Trauma Fellowship. In terms of committee involvement, Dr. McGeary is the Chair of the Internship Training Committee within the Department of Psychiatry and a member of the Resident Research Day Committee, Psychology Residency and Fellow Training Committee, and the Education Leadership Committee. Furthermore, she serves as a member of the South Texas Organizational Network Guiding Studies on Trauma and Resiliency Consortium to Alleviate Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (STRONG STAR CAP) Administrative Core, providing vision to the largest consortium for military trauma research in the country. Dr. McGeary has been a member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for the UT Health IRB since 2014 and was selected as Vice-Chair of her IRB committee in 2016. She provides service to the UT Health Department of Anesthesiology by providing their fellows and residents with didactics on the psychological effects and treatments of chronic pain (a core curriculum requirement for their training). Dr. McGeary is also a guest lecturer for the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA) Military Health Psychology course. She has participated in extramural grant review committees for the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program. Additionally she served as the STRONG STAR Consortium to Alleviate PTSD Scientific Review Officer and helped develop the Request for Applications, organized the system for submission of proposals, and organized/led review of pre-proposals for $9 million in funding. Dr. McGeary has been an ad hoc reviewer for The Journal of Head and Face Pain, Pain Practice, and the Journal of Applied Biobehavioral Research. Based on her local and national scientific and training contributions, Dr. McGeary was selected to become a ReACH (Research to Advance Community Health) Scholar as a health educator for the community. Finally, Dr. McGeary is active in faculty and student mentorship. She provides faculty mentorship to two early career psychologists and provides student mentorship regarding professional issues to psychology interns. Additionally, she provides mentorship on a national level to the American Board of Professional Psychology for new applicants to the Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy specialty board.
