Temple A. Ratcliffe, MD, FACP, is currently an Associate Professor/Clinical of Medicine at the University of Texas Health San Antonio. Dr. Ratcliffe joined the faculty of UT Health in July 2014, serving as Co-Clerkship Director of the Internal Medicine Clerkship since that time. Dr. Ratcliffe is a General Internist who has been engaged in medical student and resident education for the past decade. Prior to joining the UT Health, he served as both Associate Internal Medicine Clerkship Director for the Uniformed Services University and Associate Program Director for the San Antonio Uniformed Services Healthcare Consortium?s Internal Medicine residency. His teaching has been recognized by over ten medical student, resident or program teaching awards. He also received the American College of Physicians US Air Force Chapter?s Major General Archie Hoffman award, which is given to recognize excellence in academic medicine. In 2016, he was selected as one of five Macy Scholars by the Josiah Macy Foundation. In 2017, he was inducted into the Gold Humanism society as a Faculty Member. His current educational areas of interest and research include clinical reasoning, medical student and resident assessment, and interprofessional education. He has given numerous regional and national presentations and published multiple peer-reviewed papers and a book chapter in these areas. He maintains active clinical service in hospital medicine at both University Hospital and the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital on both teaching and non-teaching inpatient General Medicine services and the Medicine Consult service.
