Dr. Carlos Landaeta currently works as Assistant Professor/Clinical in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Landaeta was born in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela. In 2002, he obtained his dental degree from the Gran Mariscal Ayacucho University at Barcelona, Venezuela. In 2003 at The Luis Razetti University Hospital, Plastic & Maxillofacial Surgery Department in Caracas, Venezuela, Dr. Landaeta joined as an Intern (honorarium) in conjunction with the lip and palate cleft foundation (non-profit charitable foundation) providing treatment to patients with lip and palate cleft deformities, dentofacial deformities, skin cancer and reconstruction, facial trauma, facial cosmetic procedures, facial burns, as well as dentoalveolar (impacted teeth. Before Residency, in 2004 Dr. Landaeta was accepted to do an Advanced Training in Maxillofacial Trauma at the Penitenca Hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil under the mentoring of Dr. Sylvio de Moraes, DDS, MD. In 2006, he was accepted to do his residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia.

After that, he returned to Venezuela where he worked as a Maxillofacial Surgeon at his own practice and other private practices. He continued to work with the lip and palatal cleft charitable foundation now as a leader of the Oral and Maxillofacial department. At the same time, he started a partnership with his mentor Dr. Velasquez, MD (plastic surgeon) performing multiple facial cosmetic treatments, as well as, facial skin reconstructions post skin cancer.

Dr. Landaeta moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2013, and joined the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery in 2014. Since 2014, he continues his advanced training in facial cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Landaeta?s fields of interests are facial trauma, orthognathic surgery, dental implant, facial cosmetic surgery, among others.
