Bokov, Alex

School of Medicine
Epidemiology & Biostatistics

During my Ph.D. training in physiology, I became interested in statistics and informatics because I saw first-hand how the acquisition of data is outpacing the ability to analyse and interpret it. So, I did my post-doctoral training at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. I concurrently completed an M.S. in Applied Statistics. My cross-disciplinary training, combined with over a decade of practical programming and database experience, positions me to bridge the gap between biology, statistics, and scientific computing, for more powerful experimental design, valid and reproducible statistical analysis, and biologically relevant interpretation of results. In January 2014, I joined the Clinical Informatics Research Division where I built our flagship i2b2 data warehouse and helped Dr. Tirado-Ramos build a top-notch biomedical informatics team.
