Emergency Medicine

Dr. Wayman grew up in Waco, Texas and graduated from Baylor University. He then attended the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. After graduating medical school, he moved to Birmingham, Alabama where he completed his Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He served as Chief Resident and was recognized as the Outstanding Emergency Medicine Resident.
After residency, he stayed at UAB and completed a Global Health fellowship. During the fellowship, he earned his Diploma of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene from the Gorgas Memorial Institute in Lima, Peru. He has provided medical care in Cambodia, Kenya, Mexico, The Gambia, and Peru. Dr. Wayman`s clinical interests include Refugee Health, Tropical Medicine, and Ultrasound in Tropical Diseases. He has a passion for teaching all of the above and mentoring medical students and residents who are interested in Global Health. Dr. Wayman serves as the Medical Director of the San Antonio Refugee Health Clinic, the Director of the Global Health Fellowship, and the Assistant Director of Global Health EM.

When Dr. Wayman isn`t working, he enjoys playing outside with his wife and two active, energetic, and lively kids.
