Dr. Kamna Balhara joined UTHSCSA in 2016 as Assistant Professor and serves as Assistant Program Director for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program.
Dr. Balhara grew up in New Delhi, Singapore, and Texas. She graduated summa cum laude from Rice University and obtained a Master's in French Studies from Columbia University before attending Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins, where she served as Chief Resident. During residency, she was very involved in research and completed specialized training in Global Emergency Services. She received the Outstanding Resident and Outstanding Resident Research awards upon completion of residency.
Her academic focuses include global health and health disparities, as well as the intersection of resident education and emergency department operations. She is proud to be a member of the UTHSCSA community and excited to be back in Texas.
