FAMILY NURSE PRACTITIONER:
? Prioritize and Initiate plan of care upon patient arrival to surgical floors, caring for Intermediate care patients as well as
regular bed patients.
? Consult other services as appropriate (i.e. general surgery,oral-maxillofacial, plastics, etc.)
? Evaluate CT scans, x-rays, and laboratory findings
? Manage patient thermodynamics`, fluid and electrolytes (to include glucose control) as well as post-operative pain issues.
? Coordinate and participate in patient care conferences with family, nursing staff and members of multidisciplinary team
? Coordinate with nurse case manager, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to initiate home or rehab therapy needed on progressing patient`s physical and
cognitive health.

Family focused clinical preceptorship UTHSCSA- Total 585 clinical practicum hours with Lorena Guerra FNP Centro-Med, Kathy Joyce FNP Family Medicine clinic, Wilford Hall, Dr. Fredrico Ng private office, Dr. Robert Zajac, Infectious Diseases. Provided care for the family across the lifespan, including annual physicals, chronic illness management and urgent care
? Computer Skilled- Proficient in electronic communication, Microsoft documents and Sunrise EMR documentation with emphasis on ensuring accuracy and patient confidentiality

? Preceptor for nursing students - new graduate nurses as well as experienced in nurses in the academic setting
