UTHSCSA Faculty Profiles v1.0

Sampson, Andrew J

School of Medicine

I specialize in the theoretical development and application of advanced Monte Carlo techniques for radiation transport simulations of medical imaging. Application of patient-specific Monte Carlo simulation coupled with accurate statistical models can lead to improved patient outcomes. To this end, I aim to achieve efficient modeling of the entire imaging chain with the highest fidelity. I have specific interest in women`s imaging and computed tomography. I am also Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology for Diagnostic Imaging Physics and qualify under the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) to provide mammographic physics services.
