Occupational Therapy

I am an occupational therapist with 20 years of clinical experience. I received my BS in Occupational Therapy from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2000. I completed my post-professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy in December of 2019 from Creighton University. My area of expertise is productive ageing. I have specific expertise in providing effective and evidence-based interventions to clients living with dementia and their caregivers, and I have become increasingly passionate about improving the current paradigm of long-term care to reflect more client-centered care. My doctoral research addressed the perceptions of nursing staff in nursing facilities regarding therapist-created functional maintenance programs. I sought to improve the success of these programs by understanding how the programs are perceived by the members of the nursing staff who implement the programs following therapy discharge. I serve as the occupational therapy clinician for the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer`s and Neurodegenerative Diseases, the Mays Cancer Center, and the new clinical driving evaluation clinic. I also serve as the OT clinician implementing the COPE program through grant-funding for persons living with dementia and their caregivers in the community.
