Cancer Care- I am working on different collaborative models for care of cancer patients during acute treatment phase |
Collaboration of Generalist and Specialist- Cancer patients` acute treatment consists of chemotherapy and radiation continue for months or sometimes years. During this management phase, they often lost contact with their primary care physicians resulting in neglect of management of chronic conditions. Cancer patients end up in emergency room for management of cancer treatment side effects which can be managed at Primary Care Physician (PCP) office. My American cancer society funded research project aims to bridge this gap and increase collaboration of cancer patients care during this treatment phase by finding the barriers and facilitators for development of this collaborative model of care. |
College Students Research Teaching- I teach high school and college students about research methods. My special area of interest is qualitative research. I have sent high school and college students to conduct observations of waiting room for Primary Care Physicians and Oncologists, help them in writing poster proposals and present posters at Scientific meetings. |
Pain management- Developing curriculum for residents and medical students for pain and palliative care clinic |
Palliative Care- Fellowship in Hospice and Palliative care |
Qualitative Research- Qualitative research is said to be the starting point of all research questions. It gives first hand information of subjects views about different issues and provide the basis to formulate an intervention for quantitative studies. I am conducting a qualitative research project funded by American Cancer Society to formulate intervention for future randomized controlled trials |
