Tatiana Cordova, MD is a board-certified Family Physician and Assistant Professor/Clinical in the Family and Community Medicine Department of the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA). After graduating from medical school at UTHSCSA in 2010, she moved to Corpus Christi, TX where she completed her Family Medicine Residency and Obstetrical Fellowship with a focus on Women?s Health and Obstetrical Care at the Corpus Christi Family Medicine Residency Program (CCFMRP). As a junior faculty member at the CCFMRP, Dr. Cordova taught Family Medicine residents and Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) Third Year medical students who rotated through CHRISTUS Spohn South Hospital Labor and Delivery Unit to complete their OB/Gyn rotations. Upon completing her fellowship in 2015, she joined UTHSCSA as faculty to practice full scope Family Medicine and teach Family Medicine residents and Third and Fourth Year students. Besides caring for adult patients in her faculty clinic at the Family Health Center on the Robert B. Green Campus, she also teaches and supervises residents and cares for patients at various clinical sites including the Family Medicine Inpatient Service, Newborn Nursery, and the Labor and Delivery Unit at University Hospital, Kenwood and Salinas Prenatal Clinics, and Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center (JDC). |

Pediatric Education- I coordinate pediatric care and teaching of medical students and residents in Well Child Clinic within the Family Health Center.During this clinic we offer anticipatory guidance to parents regarding expectations and normal development of children, preventative care and immunizations, as well as acute care of various medical conditions. Population served includes children age 0-18 years of age and children with medical disabilities up to age 21. |
Prenatal and Obstetrical Care- I coordinate prenatal and obstetrical care in outlying community clinics within the University Health (UHS) System and the Labor and Delivery Unit at University Hospital. We offer prenatal care and advice/medical care throughout the duration of pregnancy and see patient for their postpartum visit. Once patient has completed her pregnancy, I will also participate in their delivery and hospital care of the mother and her newborn child. |
Women`s Health- I manage residents` learning and supervise their care of patients in the Women`s Health Clinic with the Family Health Center. Procedures performed during this clinic include pap smear, colposcopies, endometrial biopsies to detect early stages of cervical cancer or any endometrial malignancy. Other services include contraception management and counseling including oral contraception and insertion of Nexplanon and Intrauterine devices (IUDs) such as Mirena. |

Provided instruction and certification of AAFP`s Advance Life Support in Obstetrics to residents of Family Medicine in San Antonio. Course will go through various emergency situations of obstetrical care and provide recommended management/treatment options and resuscitative strategies. Course participants include residents in its majority, but will also include nursing and physician providers. It is held on a yearly basis without approximately 30 participants per year. | |||

Weekly didactics are given to residents in the Family Medicine Residency Program by residents and faculty about topics of interest to the specialty. As faculty not only will I teach residents directly on a topic relevant to the month's didactic curriculum, but I will also supervise and guide residents during their preparation for presentations during Residency Didactics, as well as presented on various topics such as Morbidity and Mortality, Respiratory Infection in Pediatric Population or Abnormal Uterine Bleeding. This is an ongoing activity as part of my faculty position. There are about 30 student/residents per session and I participate in 3-5 sessions per year. When I supervise a resident's participation, I will be familiar with the topic of discussion, review and provide feedback on their presentation and moderate session if needed. | |||
