David Cadena, MD, is a board-certified Family Physician and an Assistant Professor/Clinical in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. Dr. Cadena was born and raised in San Antonio, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree at St. Mary?s University and then graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) Long School of Medicine. While attending the UTHSCSA Family Medicine Residency, Dr. Cadena was selected as Chief Resident in his final year. As Chief Resident, he helped establish a Health Systems elective and improved workflow on the residency?s In-patient Service at University Hospital. He has completed and presented a number of quality improvements projects at local and state professional meetings.

Dr. Cadena enjoys being a Family Physician in UT Health San Antonio?s Verde Hills Primary Care Center where is special interests include mental health and office-based procedures. He also embraces his teaching role with medical students while continuing to grow as a leader in healthcare.
